Public Announcement Regarding the Standard Contract Notification Module by the Personal Data Protection Authority

The Personal Data Protection Authority ("Authority") has announced that the Standard Contract Notification Module is now available for use by data controllers and data processors.

According to the announcement:

  • With the amendment made to Article 9 of the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data, "standard contracts" are defined as a safeguard mechanism for the transfer of personal data abroad. Data controllers and data processors are required to notify the Personal Data Protection Authority within five business days from the date of signing these contracts.
  • Article 14, paragraph five of the Regulation on the Procedures and Principles for the Transfer of Personal Data Abroad states that these notifications can be carried out physically or through alternative methods such as registered electronic mail (KEP). However, with the decision dated October 17, 2024, numbered 2024/1793, the Personal Data Protection Authority has established the "Standard Contract Notification Module" to enable data controllers and data processors to fulfill their notification obligations more effectively and swiftly, and this module has been made available for use.
