COOPERATION BETWEEN KVKK AND ITU IN THE FIELDS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DATA SCIENCE

The Personal Data Protection Authority (“KVKK”) and Istanbul Technical University (“ITU”) has signed a protocol to cooperate on the issues regarding data science and artificial intelligence.
In the context of the protocol, the aims are to protect personal data between them, to make mutual works and publishing about data security and privacy, to carry out national and international projects and to cooperate in the areas of education and training.
The head of KVKK said about the protocol that the Law on Personal Data Protection No 6698 is not against to the use of technologies which are able to create value from data, conversely; it supports utilization of opportunities these technologies provide in the context of personal data protection.
The Rector of ITU stated that the protocol will last two years, and it is aimed that ITU will improve applications about artificial intelligence and data science which allow the data-based economy to develop so as to contain data privacy.
