THE DATA PROTECTION COMMISSION PUBLISHES A GUIDANCE NOTE ABOUT COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

The Data Protection Commission (“DPC”) which is the national authority responsible for the enforcement of the law on ePrivacy in Ireland has just published the Guidance Note on Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies.
In the Guidance Note, the DPC gives interpretation about the definition of cookies and tracking technologies in addition to the explanations of law on cookies. The connection between cookies and consent is given while consent on cookies are detailly explained with illustrations.
Lastly, the DPC addresses processing of personal data and special category data related with the cookies beside protection of data.
