SPANISH DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY FINES TELEFÓNİCA MÓVİLES ESPAÑA

European Data Protection Board (“EDPB”) announced that the Spanish Data Protection Authority (“AEPD”) has decided on an administrative fee to Telefónica Móviles España for unlawfully processing personal data by charging invoices to a third party who is not a customer of the company.
Although the company defended that the invoices were not paid and the data processing activity was carried out by the bank, AEPD stated that Telefónica Móviles España company did not process data under Article 6 of the European Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). Therefore, an administrative fine of 75,000 EUR was imposed on the Company on the basis of an unlawful data processing activity.
