EU COMMISSION SHARES ITS WORK PROGRAMME 2021

The European Commission has shared its Work Programme 2021 with the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions.

In the Programme, digital age has been also issued emphasising that in order to ensure digital decade of Europe, the Commission will propose a roadmap with clearly defined goals for 2030, such as for connectivity, skills and digital public services.

The Commission will also take action across these different areas, notably with legislation covering the safety, liability, fundamental rights and data aspects of artificial intelligence and a Data Act to set the right conditions for better control and conditions for data sharing for citizens and businesses.

Also review of competition rules made by the Commission will be noted to be continued in order to ensure they are fit for the changing market environment, including the accelerating digitalisation of the economy. Beside it, the Commission also updates the new industrial strategy for Europe to take into account the impacts of the COVID-19, the global competitive context, and the acceleration of the twin green and digital transitions.
