EDPS REPORT ON PROCESSING HIGH RISK INFORMATION FOR THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOM OF NATURAL PERSONS

06.07.2020

On 6 July 2020, the European Data Protection Supervisor (“EDPS”) published a Report on how EU institutions, bodies and agencies (“EUIs”) carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments (“DPIAs”) when processing information that presents a high risk to the rights and freedom of natural persons.

DPIAs are required under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) any time when new project is begun which is likely to involve “a high risk” to other people’s personal information and UEIs.

The Report is to allow the EDPS to provide further guidance on DPIAs in accordance with Article 39 of the Regulation applicable to the EU institutions, said EDPS.
