TİTCK Publishes First Quarterly Inspection Data for Type-1 and Type-19 Biocidal Products in 2023
The Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (“TİTCK”) has released the “First Quarterly Inspection Data for Type-1 and Type-19 Biocidal Products in 2023” on May 9, 2023, on the official TİTCK website.
During the months of January, February, and March 2023, market surveillance and inspection activities were conducted on type-1 biocidal products such as hand sanitizers, antibacterial liquid soaps, as well as type-19 products like insect repellents, which come into direct contact with human body.
As a result, a number of inappropriate products, including those without licenses and posing safety risks, were identified. Administrative sanctions, including fines, product withdrawal, and destruction, were imposed on these products.
The inspection data reveals the following key findings:
- Total number of Type-1 and Type-19 Biocidal Products inspected: 8
- Total number of inappropriate products (unlicensed and unsafe/risk-bearing): 7
- Number of unsafe/risk-bearing products: 4
- Number of other inappropriate products (unlicensed): 3
- Total amount of administrative fines imposed due to non-compliance with safety and licensing regulations: 739,640 TL.
