Significant Changes Made regarding Trademark Registration Applications in Türkiye

The Communiqué on the Classification of Goods and Services for Trademark Registration Applications (TURKPATENT: 2024/2) (“Communiqué”) was published in the Official Gazette dated 20/12/2024 and numbered 32758 by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (“TURKPATENT”).

According to the Communiqué, the following additions have been made to the classification list of goods and services;

  • Class 9: Cryptocurrencies, NFTs, mobile applications, humanoid robots with artificial intelligence, laboratory robots, robots for educational and training purposes, security surveillance robots, and electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Class 10: Masks for medical purposes,
  • Class 12: Forklifts, caravans, drones, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Class 29: Charging services for electric vehicles and rental of portable charging units.
  • Class 38: Communication services via telephone, computer, and other means; services enabling the transmission of visual and audio messages, images, and videos via computers, mobile phones, and smart wearable devices; rental of access time to global computer networks; internet service provider (ISP) services; and rental of communication devices.
  • Class 39: Within the scope of health tourism, services for arranging travel and transfers for those who wish to receive treatment and their accompanying persons; services for arranging travel visas and documents,
  • Class 41: Life coaching services and entertainment planning services, including weddings, henna nights, and engagement ceremonies.
  • Class 42: Auto expertise services for land vehicles, including the inspection of accident history, external controls, internal controls, underbody checks, engine section inspections, and the detection and reporting of defects.
  • Class 44: Dentistry, psychology, massage, and spa services.
  • Class 45: Astrology consulting services and spiritual counseling services.

Furthermore, the Communiqué repealed the Communiqué on the Classification of Goods and Services for Trademark Registration Applications (TPI: 2016/2), which was published in the Official Gazette dated 30/12/2016 and numbered 29934.

The Communiqué entered into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
