Explanations About the Activities of the Turkish Data Protection Authority

In the context of the "January 28 Data Protection Day" event held on January 28, 2024, the President of the Turkish Data Protection Authority, Prof. Dr. Faruk BİLİR, provided the following overview of the activities carried out by the Authority up to that date:

• Up to this date, 38.789 notifications, complaints, and applications have been submitted to the Personal Data Protection Board.

• Out of these complaints, 37.010 have been resolved.

• In addition, 290 of the 1317 reported data breaches have been announced on the Authority's website.

• As a result of the examinations, a total of 463.801,000 TL in administrative fines have been imposed.

1080 legal opinions have been provided on matters within the Authority's jurisdiction.

8 commitments with sufficient qualifications for the transfer of personal data abroad have been approved by the Board.
