An Investigation Has Been Initiated Against Google by the Turkish Competition Board
The Turkish Competition Board (“the Board”) has initiated an investigation against Google pursuant to Article 41 of Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition (“the Law”) to determine whether Google has violated the provisions of the Law.
The investigation was launched to assess whether Google has abused its dominant position in the field of online advertising through its “Performance Max” campaign. Introduced by Google in 2021, the campaign enables advertisers to access all advertising spaces on the platform through a single campaign. Within the scope of the investigation, the Board will examine whether Google has leveraged its power in the relevant market to other advertising services, engaged in unfair practices against advertisers, or restricted competition through data combination.
The investigation is still ongoing and has not yet been concluded.
