THE TURKISH DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES TWO NEW DATA BREACH NOTIFICATIONS !

The Turkish Personal Data Protection Board (the “Board”) has already published two public announcements on their web site about the data breach notifications which took place in the Gardrops Electronic Services and Trade Inc. and Zynga Game Ireland Limited.

The companies conveyed the notifications to the Board according to their obligations as data controller.

Firstly, Gardrops Electronic Services and Trade Inc. stated that a maximum of 257,000 users may have been affected by data leakage happened on 17.09.2019, and the personal data affected by the violation are their user name, surname, e-mail address and encrypted user account passwords.

Secondly, Zynga Game Ireland Limited experienced a similar situation in which it was determined that the player account information containing the user name and password could be illegally accessed by hackers.

The breach occurred on August 31, 2019, and it was reported that the affected personal data was identity, contact and location information, 34.000 Turkish citizens were affected by the breach, and that the number of records affected was not known at this stage.
